A Little About Me
Originally from a small town within the Adirondack Mountains, I grew up learning, exploring, and playing on its trails and waterways. This instilled a deep connection to nature and a never-ending curiosity of the interconnectivity within our world. The people surrounding me were dedicated to serving our area’s communities through volunteering, civil engagement, and community building. This environment cultivated strong values of service, curiosity, empathy, and adaptability. I came to WA over twenty years ago as an AmeriCorps volunteer working with youth. I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest’s diverse landscapes and ecosystems (oh, and my Washingtonian fellow). I’m grateful to have moved to North Bend in 2018, an area that reminds me a lot of my beloved mountain town and is rich in PNW history.
My Hobbies
On any given day, regardless of weather conditions, I can be found puttering around in my yard and garden beds. I love creating and experimenting, from companion gardening techniques, building twig trellises, crafting natural salves to finding substitutions in recipes. I endeavor to use what I grow- it doesn’t always work out but I thrive in the play and process. I also enjoy an inside day, where I’m relaxing in my wingback chair researching ancestry, therapeutic interventions rooted in neurobiology and somatic psychotherapy, or the next horticultural endeavor. To the annoyance of anyone around me, I’m constantly listening to curated playlists, comedy podcasts, cozy mysteries or historical fiction audiobooks.
Education/Experience
I earned my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle in June 2019. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Evergreen State College in 2010, which focused on sociology, education, and cultural studies. I completed my internship and associate level experiences with Nexus Youth & Families in Enumclaw from 2018-2021. From 2021-2024, I operated my own private practice through Envision Counseling in Bothell. I have diverse experiences working with youth and adults recovering from a wide variety of difficulties including grief, relationship problems, depression, trauma, anxiety, family adjustments, and life transitions. My approach is person-centered, solution-focused, and strength-centered. I collaborate with my clients to work with them where they are now and learn from them where they want to be. The foundation of my work is trauma-informed, grounded in Existential Therapy and Somatic Psychotherapy. I’m passionate about supporting people’s unique intersectional identity journeys. I encourage clients to gain a deeper understanding of their mental, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing through the exploration of their experiences, sense of purpose, values, worldview, and therapeutic objectives. When working with children I utilize Child-Centered Play Therapy and collaborate with families. With my adult clients I will incorporate mindfulness, expressive arts, neuroscience psychoeducation, and play therapy interventions. With my client’s goals in mind, we work to diversify coping skills and create adaptive strategies.
